Kachemak Bay Shorebird Festival

Join birders from around the world for Alaska’s largest wildlife festival! Kachemak Bay (near Homer, Alaska) provides miles of shoreline and intertidal habitat for migrating birds. Kachemak Bay’s unique ecology, easy accessibility to beaches, and the scenic landscapes of Homer make this a prime location to experience this annual migration. Kachemak Bay is a site of International Significance in the Western Hemisphere Shorebird Reserve Network.  

Located on the beautiful shore of Kachemak Bay, the Homer Spit is one of the most accessible places for shorebird viewing in Alaska. With over 100,000 shorebirds of 25 different species migrating through in early May, this five-day event celebrates the return of spring and migrating birds.
