I have a question about how birds know there is feed on the ground and what kind of feed it is.
Not that long ago i purchased basically chicken feed with sunflower seeds in it.
I was SUPER SURPRIZED maybe a month later, after seeing Dives, Eurasian Collared Doves, Dark Eyed Juncos, some Quail…to see my all time favorite Flickers eating the feed off the ground!
I coukd not believe my eyes and a couple show up every day. These are the Northern Red variety. I never knew they ate off the ground, and wonder how they came to do it. There is a lot of corn in the feed so i think that is what they like. But how do they know it is there on 7 sq ft of ground, in five acres in the woods? Thank you!
